The holidays are filled with myriad magical moments. Throughout November and December, opportunities teem to connect with family, friends, and loved ones. But between the prep, presents, and playing host for two months straight, our efforts to stay well-turned and aligned often fall by the wayside. Our answer?
During this season when we often default to a fast-paced flow, slowing lanugo and savoring that space between the busyness is the ultimate opportunity to recharge and and restore. And sure, we may have our morning routines on lock, but I’d oppose that a nighttime wind-down is just as important—if not plane increasingly so.
A Relaxing and Restorative Holiday Nighttime Routine
In order to assist you in creating a holiday nighttime routine that best supports you, we partnered with Haven Well Within. This year, we're all well on our way to slowing down and relishing the peace, instead of slogging through a long to-do list. Because a joyful season is based on the tiny, yet nutritious traditions that allow us to nurture our inner serenity in the midst of everything's bustle.
However, as we are all well aware, self-care practices can easily become too extravagant. You get the idea—a 12-step skincare routine and an intense gratitude practice.) I'm going to share my Christmas nighttime ritual in the spirit of simplification. My hope is that it inspires you to step yonder from your screens and embrace this truth: the holidays get to squint and finger however you want. With that intention in mind, let’s swoop in to the evening habits that alimony me feeling grounded and wifely throughout the holiday season.
Whether a product is given to us or something we ourselves buy, our editors meticulously choose each one, and we always demand an unbiased assessment. We could receive a tiny commission if you make a purchase using one of our links, but there is no cost to you.
Take a Gratitude Walk
Think of this like the wifely and serene older sister of the Hot Girl Walk. Sure, Yes, I enjoy listening to podcasts and listening to music when I'm feeling motivated, but sometimes, taking a stroll helps me just be alone with myself and observe the world around me.
I love using this to uncork my holiday nightly ritual because it makes it easier for me to go from a busy weekday to a peaceful evening.By taking a walk outside, you signify to your mind and soul that you’re stepping into a new part of your day. Perhaps it’s your co-worker who unchangingly makes you laugh, or a particularly succulent lunch your partner prepped. Maybe it’s your worthiness to take this walk at all, and the trappy moment you get to soak up.
Cozy Up Your Wardrobe
I want to be bundled up in the cosiest, softest clothing when the temperature drops. (Of course, they are all of my top choices for Haven Well Within.) This is accurate for the entire day, but nothing is cosier than putting on dressier sweatpants and cosy socks that go with my edgy attitude. We all know that when cosy is in, it can easily transition into an outfit consisting of a higher tee and leggings that we've had for far too long.
My approach to loungewear is to choose fabrics like organic cotton and cashmere to keep it as comfortable as possible while maintaining a flattering and fitted fit.To emphasize elegance, monochromatic looks are unchangingly an easy yes.
Light a Calming Fragrance
I adore aromas that evoke the changing of the seasons, such as pine, vetiver, and cedar. Furthermore, even though I can like vanilla, the scent frequently leans too sweet and artificial. I tend to go towards candles that highlight the seasonal shift that occurs naturally, and this Ember Candle achieves just that. There’s moreover something so wonderfully ritualistic well-nigh lighting a candle surpassing cozying up in bed with a cup of tea. For ambiance, a go-to candle is unchangingly a must.

Wrap One Present
During the holidays, wrapping gifts may frequently be a stressful situation. (Especially on Christmas Eve, when you have a tonne of gifts to wrap.) I want to encourage you this year to enjoy the process and to take it one memento at a time. Prepare for the holidays by washing your gifts in advance and gathering wrapping paper that makes you want to stow each one of the gifts. Pour yourself a cup of tea, light your candle, and play some festive music to establish the mood. It will be a calming and rejuvenating element of your Christmas nightly routine because there will just be one present to wrap each night.
Soak in a Hot Bath
I’m a bath-taker—simple as that. For me, showers serve a functional purpose, but baths are a joyous ritual and an opportunity for self-care. While an everything shower keeps my hair wipe and legs smooth, baths are increasingly of a moment to soothe my soul. Again, candles are a must, and suffuse salts that tousle CBD with magnesium and violaceous are my secret to experiencing full-body relaxation. But I moreover love simply soaking yonder and enjoying this moment of relaxation and calm.
Nourish Your Skin, Head to Toe
Let’s get real: is there anything largest than slipping into wipe sheets without moisturizing every inch of skin? It’s not only one of my favorite parts of my holiday nighttime routine, but something I squint forward to each day. Without exfoliating and/or dry brushing, I replenish my skin by pairing a soothing soul oil with an constructive moisturizer. Nourishing ingredients like those featured in Vertly’s California Bloom Soul Oil (hi—calendula flower, chamomile, sweet almond oil, and olive squalane), alimony my skin happy all throughout the day.
Make Bedtime a Ritual
A calming, soul-nourishing one at that. All throughout your holiday nighttime routine, the goal is to help you transition from the frenzied busyness of your workday to a serene state surpassing falling asleep. When my insomnia was particularly bad, I made the mistake of watching a cortisol-boosting movie surpassing getting into bed. Not ideal. Nowadays, I protect my bedtime at all costs, ensuring all screens are off well surpassing my bedtime—usually an hour surpassing falling asleep.
After I put on my pajamas and lit my bedside candle (I’m sure you can sense a pattern here… ) I love getting cozy with a book. And though I love a good, fast-paced narrative, I tend to reserve my evening reading for self-help books only. That way, I finger inspired, but I’m not unprotected up in an action-packed plot. And while reading may not happen every night, I’m willful well-nigh jotting lanugo my thoughts and reflecting on the day in my guided journal. Though I’ve single-minded to a journaling ritual for years, I’ve found that the Five-Minute Journal is an easy, wieldy way to fall in love with the practice.
From there, I put on a silk eye mask—one that both blocks out light and provides a nice weight on my face. My silk pillowcases are moreover a nice touch of luxury that keeps my hair frizz-free and any wrinkles at bay. Trust me, they’re worth the hype.
